Democrats are Caving to the GOP, Again

Democrats are routinely criticized for being weak. Here is more proof that voters are right about their suspicions:

At issue is the Virginia state Supreme Court’s decision to throw out the amended congressional district maps that voters just approved—in a referendum that cost the Democrats some $70 million, as they painstakingly played by all the rules to get it over the line. In the immediate aftermath of the ruling, Spanberger offered a limp proclamation, saying that she was “disappointed” by it but that her “focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November.”

Here we have a betrayal of the voters of Colorado (and the American people). Peters was working on behalf of Donald Trump and his criminal attempt to overthrow our constitutional republic.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Friday commuted the sentence of election conspiracy theorist Tina Peters following pressure from President Donald Trump, the latest instance of the president using his powers to reward those who echoed his baseless claims of mass fraud as the cause of his 2020 loss.

Trump has championed the case of Peters, a 70-year-old former county clerk who was sentenced to nine years behind bars after being convicted in a scheme to make a copy of her county’s election computer system. She gets released June 1.

Kirsten Sinema even voted against a minimum wage bill by giving the thumbs down. She showed her contempt for all working Americans when she did it. She ran as a progressive but governed as a “maverick.” Joe Manchin, of West Virginia, played footsy with Republicans for years as a U.S. Senator.

Joe Manchin’s Anti-Environment Amendment Defeated Despite Support from Biden, Schumer

Just a reminder that the Democratic Party, along with the GOP, is no friend of the environment. Here we have a powerful Democratic Senator and the President conspiring to help the fossil fuel industry. And it was a dirty deal done under the cover of the defense budget, which always passes:

The U.S. climate movement and people on the frontlines of the planetary crisis celebrated Thursday after the U.S. Senate declined to add Sen. Joe Manchin’s fossil fuel-friendly permitting bill to a military spending package.

…”Defeated for the third time this year, this zombie bill would have fast-tracked dangerous fossil fuel and mining projects that would undercut the positive impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act,” explained Chelsea Hodgkins, Oxfam America’s climate policy adviser. “Sen. Manchin’s proposal would do nothing to address the real barriers to renewable energy development, which include fully resourcing underfunded agencies and investing in community-supported renewable systems.”

…”We are thrilled that Manchin’s push to get his Big Oil wish list attached to must-pass legislation has failed for the third time,” said Ariel Moger, government and political affairs director at Friends of the Earth. “Leader Schumer and Democrats who voted for the dirty deal should be ashamed of themselves.”

…Ahead of the vote, Biden on Thursday reiterated his support for Manchin’s proposal, provoking widespread outrage.

HIstory is against Democrats. And so is their failure to govern:

One of the most regular patterns in American politics is the tendency of the president’s party to lose seats in Congress in midterm elections. The president’s party has lost House seats in 17 of 19 midterms and Senate seats in 13 of 19 midterms since World War II. Across all 19 midterm elections, the president’s party has lost an average of about 27 seats in the House and roughly 3.5 seats in the Senate.

And it doesn’t help when you have a president who is so unpopular:

There appears to be a growing consensus among pundits and political observers that Democrats are likely to experience a shellacking in the 2022 midterm elections, especially in the House of Representatives. According to observers such as Chuck Todd and Mark Murray of NBC News, a number of indicators are now pointing toward major losses for Democrats, especially President Biden’s poor approval rating and the large proportion of Americans who believe that the country is currently on the wrong track or headed in the wrong direction.

The Democrats under Biden are self-destructing. Just as they did under Obama:

In a recent interview with The New York Times, prominent Florida-based trial lawyer and high-dollar Democratic donor John Morgan unloaded on his party for presiding over “a general feeling of not understanding why nothing can get done.” The Democrats’ inability to pass the far-reaching initiatives its members have spent weeks promoting is “single-handedly torpedoing” Democratic candidates and setting the stage for “a blood bath” of a midterm election cycle in 2022.

Morgan didn’t dwell on why Democratic ambitions are being frustrated, but some pollsters have. Their conclusions aren’t surprising: Those Democratic ambitions only resonate with Democrats. Among the voters in the middle of the electorate, whose consent is necessary to lubricate the gears of government, the sentiment around Democratic initiatives ranges from ambivalent to outright hostile. Thus, Democrats have set their Republican opponents up to once again be rewarded for doing, well, nothing at all.

Biden, Democratic Leadership got Played by Senator Manchin

Democrats once again proved what fools they are. This time they fell for a “compromise” voting rights bill that would get support from Republicans in the Senate. The problem is McConnell shot down the proposal. And that was predictable. But because Democrats in Congress are so naive that they are willing to compromise everything on the altar of bipartisanship. Even while Republicans spit in their faces.

In the process they allowed themselves to be fooled into thinking that Manchin can be trusted to do the right thing. What they did was to absolve the West Virginian Senator from being blamed for his opposition to important legislation that would stop Republican disenfranchisement of black voters throughout the country. Manchin was under great pressure to change his stance. Now he is ‘Scott Free’ (pardon the pun).

We know they aren’t going to do anything.

No dummy, Manchin is all about self-preservation. He don’t give a damn about bipartisanship. It’s a ruse.

Senator Manchin is a Democrat in Name only (DINO)

Senator Joe Manchin might be an elected Democrat. But that means nothing. He is effectively a Republican when it comes to voting for anything that most Democrats want to see passed. Manchin is effect a classic Jim Crow Democrat. Why? His state voted Republican in every presidential election since 2000. In both 2016 and 2020 West Virginia gave Trump a massive 68% of the vote. It’s all about political survival for Manchin.

This explains why the West Virginia senator is against supporting legislation that protects the voting rights of African-Americans. After all, only 3% percent of the population in West Virginia are black. It’s just math to him.

Joe Manchin is Undermining the Biden Agenda 

But let’s vote-blue-no-matter-who. Biden is not exactly fighting for it’s revocation. In fact, the current occupant of the White House stated he wouldn’t fight to end this remnant of Jim Crow

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has made it clear: he is inalterably opposed to any changes to the Senate filibuster.“There is no circumstance in which I will vote to eliminate or weaken the filibuster,” Manchin declared earlier this week. “The time has come to end these political games, and to usher a new era of bipartisanship where we find common ground on the major policy debates facing our nation.”

That means the West Virginia Democrat probably just killed the Equality Act, along with virtually every other part of the Biden administration’s legislative agenda.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo Aides Called Former Staffers to Discredit Accuser

Another crime:

In the days after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was first accused of sexual harassment by a former aide, the governor’s office called at least six former employees either to find out if they had heard from the accuser or to glean information about her in conversations that some said they saw as attempts to intimidate them.

Some of the people who received the calls said they hadn’t heard from the administration in months before getting the call about the accuser. One said a caller encouraged them to give reporters any information discrediting the accuser, Lindsey Boylan, who worked as an economic adviser for the Cuomo administration between 2015 and 2018.

The calls were made by current administration officials and former aides who are still close to the governor’s office, according to several recipients. The outreach came at the behest of Melissa DeRosa, the governor’s top aide, according to people familiar with the effort.

The failure to pass a minimum wage increase is only the latest example of a Democratic Party that fails to deliver on it’s promises. But we shouldn’t be surprised. They did it in 2009. But this time around people are starting to ask questions. Because it’s Democrats, not Republicans, that are getting in the way:
